SENIOR MANAGER DATA ENGINEERING & ARCHITECTURE

JOB PURPOSE

The Senior Manager, Data Engineering & Architecture leads the design and delivery of the organization’s enterprise data and integration ecosystem. This role defines and executes the data, integration, and tooling strategy, establishing reusable, scalable, and secure capabilities that power analytics, AI, and business operations.

The leader oversees the buildout of Data Integration as a Service (DIaaS) as a standardized, API-driven, and automated framework enabling teams across the enterprise to create, deploy, and manage data pipelines efficiently through integrated CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native platforms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and maintain the enterprise data and integration strategy, ensuring alignment with business transformation, digital, and AI initiatives.
  • Develop the data platform and tooling roadmap, covering ingestion, orchestration, cataloging, observability, and governance.
  • Establish data integrations capabilities as a service, providing standardized APIs, event streams, and reusable pipeline frameworks for cross-domain data movement.
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Security, and Cloud teams to ensure scalability, reliability, and compliance across data products and integration services.
  • Drive evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies (data mesh, Lakehouse, MDM, AI/ML Ops) to strengthen enterprise capabilities.

Architecture & Engineering Execution

  • Lead the design and implementation of modern cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) using scalable and governed architectures.
  • Define and enforce architectural standards for data modeling, transformation, and interoperability across analytical and operational systems.
  • Implement bi-directional data integration patterns, enabling aggregated insights and metrics to flow back into operational platforms.
  • Oversee delivery of automated CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code for data and integration components.
  • Embed observability and quality frameworks (lineage, validation, reconciliation, freshness) into all data flows and APIs.

Platform Enablement & Automation

  • Build and manage a self-service integration framework, empowering teams to onboard, test, and deploy data flows independently.
  • Establish consistent API and event standards, contract testing, and schema governance for all integrations.
  • Integrate monitoring, cost optimization, and DevOps best practices into data platform operations.
  • Ensure all services meet defined availability, performance, and recoverability SLAs based on business criticality tiers.

Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead and mentor high-performing data engineers and architects, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Define KPIs and OKRs for platform reliability, developer productivity, and data quality.
  • Collaborate with business and technology leaders to prioritize initiatives that deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex data and integration architecture decisions.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, architecture, or integration platform leadership roles.
  • Proven track record designing and implementing data integration and API-driven platforms in cloud environments.
  • Thorough knowledge and hands-on experience in ETL development, testing, integration, and monitoring
  • Strong expertise in CI/CD, and automated testing for data pipelines.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with tools such as Informatica Databricks, Snowflake, Kafka, Airflow, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, or similar.
  • Deep understanding of data governance, security, and metadata management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
