Fleet Maintenance Manager - Onsite in Plano, TX
Role Overview
The Fleet Maintenance Manager at Rent-A-Center plays a pivotal role in overseeing the maintenance, repair, warranty requests and operational readiness of the company’s fleet, which includes cube trucks and vans. The position is deeply integrated with vendors like Element Fleet, LeasePlan, and Mobile Maintenance companies, and involves coordination with store managers, district managers, parts suppliers and service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective vehicle servicing. The position also manages the quick return of rental vehicles and manages vehicle registration through Element. This role is onsite in Plano, TX.
Key Responsibilities
• Preventive Maintenance Oversight: Ensure oil changes and other routine services are completed as needed.
• Vendor Coordination: Manage relationships with national vendors and leasing partners to streamline repairs, warranty claims, and mobile maintenance scheduling
• Mobile Maintenance Program: Lead quarterly mobile maintenance efforts through Fleet Wolfe, reducing downtime and improving service efficiency
• Fleet Optimization: Collaborate with leadership on cost control strategies, including factory ordering, inventory reviews, and utilization analysis
• Compliance & Reporting: Monitor overdue maintenance, escalate issues, and ensure accurate documentation for repairs, rentals, and registrations
Performance & Financial Impact
• In 2023, Rent-A-Center’s fleet maintenance spend rose to $19.2M, with a per-unit monthly cost increase from $183 to $195
• The 2024 spend reached $6M, with a projected 15% reduction in 2025 due to newer vehicles and improved maintenance compliance
• Top spend categories include tires, oil changes, brakes, and transmissions
Skills & Qualifications
• Deep knowledge of vehicle maintenance cycles and warranty protocols.
• Experience managing vendor relationships and service contracts.
• Strong communication skills for coordinating across departments and vendors.
• Familiarity with fleet management systems like SalesForce, GeoTab and WEX
