JOB PURPOSE 

A Group Product Manager (GPM) is a product leader who manages multiple product managers and teams and they act as a coach that provides support to individual product managers. GPM’s focus on the bigger picture of the value stream or platform they are assigned to. They seek growth, innovation, and synergy opportunities across multiple lines of the business. 

 

This leadership role combines managing and developing people and being an individual contributor. They are the ultimate owners for envisioning business needs and value across multiple products or end-to-end within a platform.  

 

In this role, the GPM will be responsible for driving the strategic vision and execution across the entire Coworker Suite of products, which includes the internal Point of Sale (POS) system, field activity and account management tools, supply chain and inventory management, and pricing solutions. These platforms are critical to enabling our frontline teams and driving operational excellence. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Ensures and is responsible for the competitiveness and profitability of the value stream or platform they are aligned to.  
  • Ensures every project within the value stream or platform is delivered within budget, timeline, and scope.  
  • Partners with the business to determine and is responsible for delivering on key success metrics aligned to their value stream or platform. 
  • Mentors and coaches product managers to boost their output as a unit. 
  • Oversees strategic initiatives that span products within the platform or value stream. 
  • Assists in prioritizing individual product roadmaps when conflicts or resource constraints arise. 
  • Partners with executive and senior-level management across the organization to ensure vision and strategy is executed. 
  • Maintains business and domain knowledge within the value stream 
  • Supervises junior team members. 
  • Hires and trains new members of the product team. 
  • Collaborates with product leaders and internal teams to develop and update products that compete with market trends, keep the customers’ best interest at the forefront and improve profitability. 
  • Introduces and maintains standards of the product management function to the business. 
  • Fills in as a product manager and provides coverage and flexibility for the team when needed. 
  • The Group Product Manager is assigned to the direct management of Product managers who are aligned to the customer experience group of products at Rent-A-Center. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in either an IT-related field, Business, or Finance is preferred 
  • 5+ years of relevant experience 
  • Excellent people-management skills 
  • Strong verbal and written communication  
  • Dynamic leadership skills to inspire and motivate team members 
  • Team player first and foremost and believes great things come from collaboration 
  • A self-starter who is solution-oriented and able to prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision 
  • Results-oriented and skilled at both planning and hands-on execution 
  • Able to balance creativity and analytical thinking
