Digital Growth Personalization Principal 

 

POSITION OVERVIEW 

Build personalization as an enterprise capability that compounds over time. The Personalization Principal owns the decision logic, governance, and measurement standards that make personalized experiences consistent, scalable, and provably effective across Upbound brands. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on outcomes, not backlog ownership or day-to-day platform execution. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Own the measured performance of personalized experiences by defining how lift is proven (metrics, guardrails, holdouts/incrementality approach, and reporting standards). 

  • Define enterprise personalization frameworks (audience/segmentation models, eligibility rules, journey decision moments, escalation paths, persona positioning/content libraries consultation). 

  • Establish a single source of truth for audiences, signals, and decisioning logic across teams and channels. 

  • Create reusable personalization patterns and playbooks (decision trees, rulesets, templates) that reduce one-off builds and improve consistency. 

  • Translate insights and winning experiments into durable “always-on” personalization (scaling criteria, targeting logic, measurement expectations). 

  • Ensure cross-channel coherence of personalization logic across web, app, CRM, and paid/owned channels in partnership with CX, Martech, Product, and Analytics. 

  • Set governance standards that prevent personalization tech debt (audience minimums, frequency/fatigue limits, signal hygiene, quality review for high-impact rollouts). 

  • Provide strategic guidance and enablement to CX and partner teams (coaching, standards, and decision criteria) to improve quality and outcomes. 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 8+ years in personalization, experimentation, growth strategy, lifecycle design, or decisioning/measurement roles. 

  • Proven track record driving measurable lift through personalization at scale (not just campaign execution). 

  • Strong understanding of segmentation, decisioning, journey orchestration, and measurement rigor (including experimental design concepts). 

  • Ability to influence cross-functionally at senior levels; crisp frameworks, documentation, and communication. 

  • Ability to use AI tools responsibly to accelerate delivery while maintaining governance, privacy, accuracy, and brand standards. 

 

PREFERRED 

  • Experience in fintech, retail, eCommerce, or financial services. 

  • Experience with CDPs and personalization/experimentation platforms (e.g., Optimizely, Salesforce Commerce Cloud/Data Cloud, Zeta Global). 

  • Familiarity with identity/signal governance, event taxonomy, and data quality practices that power personalization. 

  • Experience with predictive segmentation or AI-assisted decisioning.
