Delivery Manager - App Development

 

This role oversees the delivery of one or more products within the Upbound Enterprise Platform. They are the direct  manager for a group of engineers who work in an agile operating model to deliver on key strategic, business, and technology initiatives. They partner closely with product management and the business to ensure there is an understanding of the business needs and priorities that the team should account for when ensuring on time delivery.  They are responsible and accountable for quality software delivery and maintaining team capacity, velocity, and technical oversight.  The delivery manager is primarily responsible for coordinating and managing the entire software development process for their products. They will oversee 1 or more products to ensure it’s success by coordinating teams, resources, and activities to deliver on their product roadmap.  They may have a direct hand in software development, but their central role is to manage successful delivery of initiatives and enhancements that their team is responsible for, as well as collaboration with other stakeholders.  Along with the Product Manager, the Delivery Manager plays a crucial role in identifying the functional requirements for their teams to ensure the completion of software development. The delivery manager provides a team with a clear direction to successfully create the applications they are responsible for delivering. 

 

Solid understanding of the merchandising system, supply chain inventory management system and purchase order management system. Hands-on experience on APIs and EDI. Customer Focus with customer-centric mindset to set priorities for features that enhance user experience and drive customer satisfaction. Planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation. Strong leadership skills to mentor and motivate teams towards project success; Adaptability to innovate in a continuously evolving supply chain landscape.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABLITIES & DELIVERABLES 

  • Technical Expertise: Function as the engineering 2 in the box representative for Enterprise Platform products, bringing about strong technical and business acumen to your product management partnership. Partner with Product Manager to: 
  • prioritize work 
  • refine work 
  • groom backlog 
  • monitor and ensure team is balancing "Technology" work with "Strategic Priorities" and "Business Priorities"
  • run effective team meetings and applicable agile ceremonies 
  • Team Leadership: Guide and motivate the team within the respective digital factory, foster collaboration and effective communication. Instill a sense of extreme stewardship at every level to deliver on responsibilities.
  • Act as a Liaison to other software engineering teams, architecting solutions and solving problems across system boundaries, primary engineering SME of assigned products 
  • Provide technical oversight to software engineers on the team
  • Assign work & monitor progress
  • Provide engineering support for team and the COE P
  • Periodically contributing code for mission critical or complex software adjustments
  • Periodically contributing code on non-critical path work as time permits
  • Provide managerial oversight for the contractors assigned to the team, ensuring strong performance and aligning with vendor partners on delivery or concerns with performance
  • Responsible for ensuring teams designs and code meet architectural goals and Application & Platform Delivery COE standards
  • Providing oversight and support of the teams' response to 3rdtier support,monitoring, troubleshooting and working to minimize downtime events 
  • Agile Leadership: Plan, execute, and deliver engineering projects, ensuring they align with organizational goals and priorities.  In absence of a dedicated scrum master partner, responsible for backlog grooming, ensuring agile maturity, high performing team, and agile ceremonies in accordance to our agile framework. 
  • Cross team and cross department collaboration for their product roadmap dependencies
  • Engineers and contractors assigned for key initiatives

KEY SKILL & COMPETENCIES - Functional Skills & Expertise level required

  • Solid understanding of the merchandising system, supply chain inventory management system and purchase order management system. Hands-on experience on APIs and EDI.
  •  Ability to understand and articulate big picture technology and architecture
  • Understanding of platform and service development
  • Demonstrated experience building, leading, and delivering in complex technology environments
  • Ability to identify and drive reusability across the value stream and the Upbound Organization
  • Leadership (Management/ Behavioral) Skills & Expertise level required.
  • 7 years of demonstrated experience leading in an engineering or technology capacity
  • Leading and delivering complex systemsStrong
  • EQ leader which is skilled in collaborating in a matrix environment
  • Lead distributed teams across multiple time zones
  • Can communicate vision and bring teams together to execute on the vision

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  •  7-10 years of experience in software engineering or technology
  •  Understanding of the agile development life cycle
  •  Experience in an agile environment
