Corporate Accounting Manager

JOB PURPOSE: As a key member in the accounting department, the Corporate Accounting Manager will be primarily responsible for financial close activities for both routine and high-risk accounting areas.  This position will be responsible for preparing journal entries and account reconciliations for higher risk accounting workstreams, as well reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by accounting senior and staff accountants. This position will also be responsible for gathering information required to prepare variance and ad hoc analyses, as required by the business. This position will interact with other departments within the organization, including Operations Management, IT, Marketing, FP&A and other corporate groups, and will also have exposure to senior-level management

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate and complete month-end close processes for the Company’s multiple business segments

  • Review and prepare journal entries

  • Review and prepare general ledger account reconciliations and variance analyses

  • Research requests for supporting financial information for the business stakeholders and auditors

  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley controls, including preparing and maintaining appropriate supporting documentation, in accordance with Company policy

  • Assist in implementing appropriate internal controls and process improvements, as needed by the business

  • Assist with implementation of new systems and processes, as needed by the business

  • Interact directly with the internal and independent external auditors in response to queries or documentation requests, as well as resolve accounting issues in a timely manner

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 4+ years of accounting experience; experience with inventory accounting a plus

  • Certified Public Accountant a plus

  • Experience at a national public accounting firm a plus

  • Experience auditing or working for SEC public companies a plus

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and data analytics tools, including Excel, Word, Access, & PowerPoint

  • Experience with Oracle accounting systems preferred, specifically Oracle Cloud a plus 

  • Must be highly organized and detail oriented

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to work seamlessly as part of a team or independently

  • Experience in retail industry preferred
